This quote is directly from a Senior Clinical Manager at one of the hospitals we recruit for on a permanent basis. We have filled multiple senior and junior clinical roles with them.
“Every hospital has a different feel to it… culture, team, clinical ability. Bigger agencies don’t take the time to learn and understand. Building trust is key to being able to have honest conversations.”
Why is this important?
Because recruitment for permanent team members is more than a transaction. It directly drives and supports service improvement, whist contributing to the long term success of an organisation through career development and retention. People are an investment.
Do I agree that bigger agencies are a problem?
Not always, no. Consultants at large agencies are often victims of their financial targets and quality of relationship may not be a metric on which they’re measured.
Marsh Farmer believe that a recruitment partner (agency) should be engaged at the very beginning and the relationship developed over time, in preference to the status quo of being used as an insurance policy that does not really deliver or have an understanding of ground level operations.
There seems to be consensus with hiring managers that this is critical and decentralised recruitment is actually the way to go.
